The Point: who was a neighbor?

 

Group Discussion Questions

  1. How do you feel about helping people in need? What are your fears, hesitations, barriers?
  2. What do you think was going on with the expert in the law? What was his reason for each of his questions?
  3. Why do you imagine the Priest and Levite did not help the man who was hurt? What are our reasons (excuses) for not helping?
  4. What did the Samaritan do to help the hurt man? List every action he took. Which of his actions are most challenging to you personally?
  5. How does Jesus answer the question: “Who is my neighbor?”
  6. How can we “go and do likewise?” What kinds of people in need could we show compassion to with tangible action? What kinds of practical action could we take in today’s world? If you have used the Meet the Need resource on the church website, share with the group.
  7. What is God calling you to do? Is there a certain person or group of people that you feel convicted to show compassion in action?.
