Group Discussion Questions

  1. Who are heroes of yours (present day or in history)?
  2. Describe Stephen’s character from Acts 6:1-15. Which aspects of his character stand out most to you? Why?
  3. What does it mean to be “full of the Spirit” (see Galatians 5:16, 25; Romans 8:5, 6, 9,14; Ephesians 5:18)? What could you do to be more continually filled with the Spirit?
  4. How would it look like to be “full of faith”?
  5. How have you experienced the grace of God?
  6. Stephen’s speech shows he really knows God’s Word. How well do you know God’s Word? What could you do this summer to learn God’s Word better?
  7. Stephen was very bold at the end of his speech. Where do you need to be bold in your life?
  8. How does Stephen die victoriously?

5 Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. Deuteronomy 6:5-9.

  1. What is the “good” problem the early church is facing in Acts 6:1? What was the conflict in verse 2 and how did they solve it?
  2. How did the disciples choose the men who were to take care of the needs of the believers? What does a “faithful man or woman” look like?
  3. Why do you think the number of disciples began to increase so rapidly (verse 7)?
  4. What happened to Stephen and why? Have you ever experienced a situation where jealous friends or co-workers deliberately set out to persecute you?
  5. Do you see any similarities in the persecution of Stephen and Jesus (verses 10-13)?
  6. How was Stephen described in verse 15? Have you ever wondered what the “face of an angel” looks like?
  7. Have you ever stood boldly before other girls, boys, men or women for your faith? What happened? What inspires or scares you about Stephen’s story?
  8. How do Stephen’s words in Acts 7:60 compare to those of Jesus in Luke 23:34? Who specifically can you pray for who has or is persecuting you (Matthew 5:43)?

Music Camps for Kids

This summer Promiseland is offering two musical camps for kids. June 10-14, Bible Boot Camp, for children ages 3-completed Kindergarten and Aug. 5-9, Camp Wise-n-Up, for children who have completed 1st-5th grades. Any child interested in a featured acting, vocal or dancing role in Camp Wise-n-Up must attend one of our Camp Workshops, May 21 or 23. Stop by the kiosk on Main Street or register online.

Promiseland Summer Fun

Promiseland is offering several fun camps for your children this summer. We have something for everyone ages 3 and up. Please stop by the Promiseland Area and pick up a Summer Fun Guide after services. You can also visit the website for information and to register for all camps. Registration is limited, so don’t wait.

McKinney Summer Feeding

Volunteer with McKinney Summer Feeding Program which provides free lunches to McKinney area children during the summer.
