Message Outline

Fruit of the Spirit – Joy

Jimmy Miller – Guest Preacher

What are the foundations of Christian Joy?

What is necessary to its continuance?

Group Discussion Question

1. What were some times in your life when you were most joyful? Do your experiences have anything in common?

2. Why do you think Paul and John said that being in community with other believers gave them more joy?

3. How is it that can you choose to be joyful in times of suffering?

4. How might joy be an integral part of your testimony?

5. Why do we fake having joy?

Family Discussion Question

1. When you are sitting in school and it’s been a long day, how do you feel when you think about summer vacation? Does it make you happy just to know that it is coming? How much more joy can we have knowing that we will all be with God for eternity?

2. How would you feel if someone told you that this December, the world would celebrate Christmas for the last time? There is something hopeful and joyful in the knowledge that no matter what, Christmas comes every year. Sadness and sorrow come from loss, but joy comes from knowing that the future holds good things for us. How does knowing that one day we will all be with Jesus in Heaven give you more joy today?
