Peace, June 23-29

Scripture: Isaiah 26:3
Song list

Message Outline

Isaiah 26

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” (Isaiah 26:3)

True peace comes from God, and God alone.

Core Habit 1: Prayer

The one whose mind is steadfast is one who stays committed to a purpose
…but this is not the same as one who is simply stubborn.

Core Habit 2: Listen

Core Habit 3: Obey

People of prayer who listen and obey can trust God for the outcome.

Core Habit 4: Trust

“Lord if you want it to happen, you have to do it, because there’s no way I can.”

  7. Read Psalm 112. In verse 8 in the NIV, the word translated “secure” is the same word as “steadfast” in Isaiah 26:3. What does Psalm 112 teach us about having a steadfast heart? What is the difference between a biblical steadfast heart, and simply being stubborn?
  8. Read Isaiah 26:12. Have you ever been in a position where you had to say, “Lord if you want this to happen, you have to do it, because there’s no way I can do it myself!” Did that make you more anxious, or give you peace?
  9. Think of a situation where you feel overwhelmed or helpless. What will be the PLOT of your story? Pray that God would give you all you need. Listen carefully for how he will respond to you. Be obedient to what he wants you to do. Trust him for the results by placing the burden of success on him.
