Group Discussion Questions

  1. Patience is defined as “the capacity to hold out or bear up in the face of difficulty, endurance, fortitude, steadfastness, perseverance.” Describe a time when you struggled to be patient.
  2. Describe a time when patience came easier for you. How were you able to have patience in that situation? What was different between that instance and the time you did not show patience?
  3. Peter thought seven times was an appropriate number of times to show forgiveness. Jesus taught to show forgiveness through patience with another person. How does Jesus’ teaching change your understanding of showing forgiveness through patience with others?
  4. God continues to show immense patience with us. How should this influence our patience with others? Does it influence your interactions with others? Why or why not?

  6. Jeremiah explained to the exiles that God would not abandon them, but they needed to trust in him and be patient, even though the original recipients would not receive the promise of returning to Israel. Share a time when you or someone you know was confronted with a situation that required a long period of patience.
  7. What are your action steps to grow in your reliance on God for patience? Describe how you are going to implement it.
  8. Who can you impact with your greater understanding of patience, that can help them find and follow Christ?

  6. What one area or person in your life can you work on improving patience with this week? Who will you ask to help you with that?
