Kindness, July 7-14

Scripture: Galatians 5:16-26
Song list

Group Discussion Questions

  1. When you think about kindness, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind?
  2. Why is it hard to consistently display Christ-like kindness?
  3. Did someone in your life display kindness that helped lead you to Christ? If so, describe the difference it made.
  4. Consider the parable of the Good Samaritan in Luke 10. What would you have done if you were walking down that same road? What did the Good Samaritan have to gain? How can we relate the parable to a likely scenario today?
  5. Would you be willing to help someone in need, even if it caused you discomfort and took time you didn’t have to spare? Ask yourself honestly: would I help a neighbor on a Sunday if it caused me to be late to church?

Family Discussion Question

  1. How would you describe kindness?
  2. What is the relationship between kindness and goodness?
  3. Who is the focus of kindness? Does it cost anything to be kind? Is there anyone we should not show kindness toward (Matthew 5:43-48)?
  4. How is God’s kindness to us expressed in Luke 6:35Ephesians 2:7 and Titus 3:4?
  5. What does Paul say the purpose of God’s kindness is in Romans 2:4?
  6. Who have you shown kindness to, and who has shown kindness to you lately? To whom do you need to show more kindness toward?
  7. As a fun way to remember Galatians 5:22-23 here’s a song that helps cement the words in our hearts and minds:
