Faithfulness, July 21-27

Scripture: Galatians 5:16-26

Faithfulness

God (Christ) is faithful.

abounding in love and faithfulness, Exodus 34:6 (Psalm 12:1-2; Proverbs 20:6; Daniel 6:4; Psalm 36:5; 91:4);

great is your faithfulness.Lamentations 3:22-23,

God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son 1 Corinthians 1:9

if we are faithless, he remains faithful, for he cannot disown himself. 2 Timothy 2:13 (Revelation 19:11; Psalm 86:11)

We can be faithful to God if we will trust and obey

For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. Romans 3:28 (John 3:16)

But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. (Matthew 23:23; 25:21

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:10 (Isaiah 38:19; Psalm 89:1)

We can be faithful to others by being . . .

            True – speak the truth

The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy. Proverbs 12:22 (Zechariah 8:16; Colossians 3:9)

            Loyalkeep your allegiances

Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried.Ruth 1:16–17

So be on your guard, and do not be unfaithful to the wife of your youth. Malachi 2:13–15

            Dependabledo what you say

When a man makes a vow to the Lord or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said. Numbers 30:2 (2 Timothy 2:2; 3 John 3; Psalm 40:10)
