Group Discussion Questions

 

  1. What causes people to not plan for the future?
  2. When you have made plans in the past, why did they fail to materialize?
  3. What areas of your life have you experienced the most success in planning for the future?
  4. What are the components that make up “our walk” or life? What is Paul’s warning in Romans 12:2 and Colossians 2:8?
  5. What is meant by the phrase “we live life inside out”? What are some methods for changing or shaping our inner life or soul?
  6. What does Christlikeness mean to you? How might you get a clearer vision of what is meant by Hebrews 12:2?
  7. What do we mean when we say that spiritual growth is not a passive process, but that in the end it is a gift of grace?
  8. How would we know as a church whether or not spiritual growth is happening?

 

Family Discussion Questions

 

  1. Read Ephesians 4:1-6 out loud together as a family. What words or phrases jump out at you?
  2. What do you think it means to be called a prisoner of the Lord? What do you think it means to live a life that is worthy of being called a Christ follower?
  3. What values do you share as a family? Are there any special sayings or phrases that describe or define who your family is?
  4. What are some of the ways the apostle Paul urges us to live as Christians in verses 2-3? Which one of these values best describes you? Is there a personal quality in these verses you need to work on?
  5. How do you think that being a part of a small group can help you work on these things? What small group of fellow believers are you a part of?
  6. What does it mean to be unified? What things does Paul say are important characteristics of our faith in Jesus (verses 4-6)? How can it help to be surrounded by people that believe these same things? What do you think it would look like if you spent a lot of time with people who did not believe these things?
  7. Activity: Take time together to design and make a family crest that depicts the values that your family holds dear.
