  1. Who has influenced you for Jesus Christ? How about as a child or young person?
  2. How did God call Joseph? What did his dreams signify?
  3. Consider the challenges Joseph faced, starting with his family dysfunction. What did his brothers do to him and why? Then, Joseph was falsely accused by Potiphar’s wife. Have you ever been falsely accused? Finally, he was forgotten in prison. Have you ever been forgotten?
  4. How do you think Joseph handled these difficult circumstances? How was God using them to shape Joseph? How have you handled similar difficulties in your life?
  5. How did God use Joseph to save his family and the world from starvation?
  6. How did God use Joseph to reconcile his family? What kind of character did Joseph have to show in order to do that?
  7. What connections do you see between Joseph and Jesus Christ?
  8. How do you think God wants to use you to make a difference in the world and in the next generation?

  1. What do you want to be when you grow up? Do you believe God has a plan for your life? What is the truth of Jeremiah 29:11? Fill in the blank: “One day I will ____________ for Jesus.”
  2. How would you summarize the story of Joseph’s life? What’s the most interesting part of it? The most unlikely? The most remarkable? The most disturbing?
  3. How did Jacob treat Joseph differently from his brothers? Why was that? Do you ever feel as though you are treated differently from those around you at work, school, home or the activities in which you participate?
  4. How did Joseph react to the trials in his life? How do you react when difficulties come your way? What was God doing through the various struggles Joseph faced? What difficulties are you wrestling with now? What might God be teaching you?
  5. What truths do we see repeated over and over again throughout Joseph’s life (Genesis 39:2, 21, 23)? How can this encourage you?
  6. What was God’s plan for Joseph? In what way is Joseph like Jesus (Genesis 45:5-7)?
  7. Why does God give you parents? Why do parents discipline us? Why do you think God allowed Joseph to experience the trials with his brothers, with Potiphar, and with Prison?
  8. What was God’s plan for Joseph (Genesis 50:20)? How can Joseph’s story encourage you to change the world for Jesus? Who has helped you the most in growing to be like Jesus? Who can you pass that knowledge and faith onto?
