  1. In what ways does Genesis 1:1 refute the different “–isms” (atheism, polytheism, etc.)?
  2. What difference does it make in your life to know that God made the entire universe?
  3. What does it mean to be made in God’s image?
  4. Read Psalm 139:1-6. How does David’s psalm impact your understanding of God in your life?
  5. How would you put Colossians 1:15-17 in your own words?
  6. How does your understanding of Colossians 1:15-17 impact your understanding of Genesis 1?
  7. What ways can you worship God in your everyday work?

  1. What does God’s name “Elohim” mean?
  2. Read Psalm 19:1. What amazes you the most about God’s creation?
  3. Read out loud together God’s account of his creation in Genesis 1. How does God complete the creation in verses 26-28? What does this say to you about God? His creation? His desired relationship with us?
  4. How does Colossians 1:15-17 add to your understanding of God’s purpose for creating the heavens and the earth? Who is the “he” in this verse? What does this tell you about Jesus?
  5. For what ultimate purpose does verse 16 say he created all things? How is Jesus the image of the invisible God? Why do you think God sent Jesus into his creation?
  6. How does thinking about God and Jesus as the creator of all things shape your thoughts on how we should respond to him? Have you committed your life to follow Jesus?
  7. If God’s purpose in creating the universe was to bring glory to himself, for what purpose did he create you? How, with your life, can you bring glory to God?
  8. In what new ways could you and your family begin worshipping the Lord today?
