  • Life Groups – our primary form of groups for adults – we encourage you to be a part of these vital communities
  • NeXt Step Courses – deepen your faith, learn how to respond to tough questions, invest in your marriage or even attend Financial Peace University
  • Care – DivorceCare, GriefShare, Boundaries and Celebrate Recovery
  • Men– book and Bible studies
  • Women – fall kick off Sept. 10 at 9 am with a Continental Breakfast on Main Street, plus group options like Moms Connection and Bible studies

Clothe a Child
Sign up to serve Saturday, Sept. 27 at Kohl’s McKinney. Help a child pick out their new outfits. Several serve options are available—a few hours of your day well spent!

Women’s Ministries
Join us for our next Girls Night Out, Sept. 25, 6:30-8:30 pm in Room 107 and hear Abigail Doust share how life changes affect marriage. Bring a dessert to share.

Baby Dedications
Our next Baby Dedication services will be on Sept. 28. The Baby Steps Class for Parents on Sept. 20 is required for parents wanting to participate in dedications. Register today.

Men’s Breakfast
Join us for our monthly breakfast on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 8 am in Room 201 (The Attic) and hear Floyd Stanley share his story, “Resurrected: Bringing Life Back to a Graveyard.” Coffee will be ready at 7:30 am. Cost is $5 at the door and there’s no charge for newcomers. Hearty breakfast included. Make plans to join us!

Children’s Ministries
AWANA Bible Club begins Sept. 8 for kids ages 3 – 4th grade. Cost is $60/child and covers their handbook, vest and all awards. There is a parent meeting today at 12:30 in Room 204
Children’s Choir starts rehearsals again on Sept. 11 for children in grades 1-5. There is a parent meeting today at 12:30 in Room 170.
New Believer’s ClassSept. 14, 10:55-11:40 am for any child who has professed faith in Christ and would like to know what’s next. Join your child for this presentation.
Forward Motion Bible study for 5th graders begins Sept. 15. They meet Mondays at 6:45-8 pm. Cost is $20.

Student Ministries
“Walk” (our annual Middle School Conference) is Sept. 26-27. You won’t want to miss the awesome fun, worship, teaching and dodge ball! Register to save your spot.

Group Leadership Training “WISDOM by Design”

  1. Have you ever investigated your family tree? What did you find that interested you, surprised you or inspired you?
  2. How has your view of who Jesus is changed over time?
  3. Why is it important that Jesus is the son of Abraham and the son of David?
  4. What significance do you see in the four women in Jesus’ genealogy?
  5. How was Jesus conceived and what does that imply about his identity?
  6. What is the meaning and significance of each of Jesus‘ names in Matthew 1: Messiah (Christ), Jesus and Immanuel?
  7. From Matthew 1 who would you say Jesus really is? In light of who he is, what difference would he make in our lives if we were really all about Jesus?


Family Discussion Questions

  1. Activity: On a large piece of paper draw your family tree. How far back can you go? Do have any interesting stories or characters in your family? What does the word “genealogy” mean?
  2. What do you know about Jesus’ genealogy? Read Matthew 1:1-17. What names surprise you in this list?
  3. Why does Matthew connect Jesus to Abraham and David in verse one (Genesis 22:18, 1 Chronicles 17:11-14)?
  4. What can you recall about the “Christmas” story? Activity: Draw pictures of how you remember the story of Jesus’ birth.
  5. Read Matthew 1:18-25. What’s unique about this story?
  6. What did the prophet Isaiah predict over 700 years before Jesus was born (Isaiah 7:14)? How did his prophecy turn out?
  7. What name does Isaiah use to describe Jesus (Matthew 1:23)? What does Immanuel mean? How is God with us?
  8. Why did Jesus leave heaven and come to earth (Matthew 1:21)? How does Jesus save us from our sins (John 3:16)?
