Sin and Sexuality, Oct. 26 – Nov. 1

Group Discussion Questions

  1. What is fornication and why is is sinful? Is it wrong to live together without being married? Why or why not?
  2. What are consequences of adultery? Why is adultery viewed as such a terrible sin that it could end a marriage? What steps can we take to avoid falling into the trap of adultery?
  3. How can husbands and wives mistreat each other sexually, apart from adultery?
  4. What are differences between morally neutral temptation and sinful lust?
  5. What practical steps can we take to fight against mental and visual sexual temptations to lust?
  6. According to 1 Corinthians 6:12-20 why should we avoid sexual sin? What theological truths show us how seriously God views sexual sin? [hint: Bruce talked about a “trinitarian theology of the body.”)
  7. Since nearly every adult has sinned sexually in one way or another, what should we do? Consider Psalm 32:5 and 1 John 1:9, then look up and read Romans 6:11-14 and 12:1-12.

Family Discussion

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Parents, here’s a link to resources to help you take the lead in talking to your children about God’s design for sexuality: christfellowshipeldorado.com/sexuality
