Group Discussion Questions

  1. Why do you think people often have a hard time receiving God’s forgiveness for sexual sins? How does staying stuck in guilt and shame hurt us?
  2. How has God poured out his grace on us?
  3. Does Jesus’ sacrifice for us cover all sexual sin? What are we saying about Christ’s crucifixion and God’s grace if we do not accept his forgiveness?
  4. What does the Bible promise about God’s forgiveness of our sins? Read Psalm 32:1-2, 103:10-12; Isaiah 43:25; Hebrews 8:12; Micah 7:19 and 1 John 1:7-9.
  5. What are we to do with our sin? Read Psalm 32:3-5; Proverbs 28:13 and 1 John 1:9. Here are sample prayers: Psalm 25:11 and 51:1-4.
  6. Take a moment of quiet for each person to confess their sins to God and receive his gracious forgiveness. Then, discuss the value of confessing, when appropriate, your sin to another person.

Family Discussion

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Parents, here’s a link to resources to help you take the lead in talking to your children about God’s design for sexuality: christfellowshipeldorado.com/sexuality
