  3. Who is the “rising sun” Zechariah refers to in Luke 1:78? What will he do? How can Jesus help us overcome the shadow of death? What promises does he offer those who put their trust in him (1 John 1:9; John 3:16)?
  4. How would you describe Mary’s attitude in Luke 1:46-55? Who is she focused on with the coming birth of her son? What are you focused on with the coming celebration of Christmas?
  5. Read Luke 2:1-20 out loud together as a family. Do the circumstances of Jesus’ birth strike you as strange for a king? How did God say the Savior would come into the world (Micah 5:2)? Why such a humble birth for our Savior and King?
