The Word of God and the Will of God

To what extent do I appreciate the fact that I have
available in my hands—the whole Bible? In my
language?

God Wants Us to Know His Will

  • God spoke the Ten Commandments from Mount
Sinai and then wrote them on tablets of stone.
  • God continued to speak through the Old
    Testament prophets.
  • God spoke through the apostles.
  • God inspired the authors of Scripture to record
    His message in writing.

 Discussion Questions

  1. If your house was on fire what one thing would you be sure to save? How valuable is the Bible to you and why?
  2. Why do you think God gave us the Bible? What does 2 Timothy 3:16-17 say about where the Bible came from and what its purpose is for our lives?
  3. Read Psalm 119:9-11 and then verse 105. What does hiding God’s Word in your heart mean? How can God’s Word keep you from sinning?
  4. What does Deuteronomy 6:4-9 say about following Jesus’ commands? How are we to go about it?
  5. If you had five things to do today and only enough time to do three of them, how would you decide which three to choose? How important is reading and understanding God’s Word to you? Is it a priority or an afterthought?
  6. Is just “knowing” what God’s Word says important or is there another aspect to following Jesus (James 1:25)?
  7. What does Psalm 119:98-104 tell us are the benefits of reading and studying the Bible?
  8. What next step will you take in prioritizing your time reading and studying God’s Word and his will for your life?
